General Nursing and Midwifery
General Nursing and Midwifery is a course designed in a comprehensive manner to cover the health needs of individuals, family, community and country at large.
Aim of the program is to prepare nurses with sound educational programme in nursing to enable them to function as efficient members of health team, beginning with the competencies for first level positions in all kinds of health care settings .It also helps nurses to develop an ability to co-operate and co-ordinate with members of the health team in the prevention of disease, promotion health and rehabilitation of the sick.
This course also serves as a professional base for further professional education and specialization in nursing. This course enables them to keep pace with latest professional and technological developments and use these for providing nursing care services.
Objectives -
- On completion of this course a nurse will be able to perform these competencies:-
- - Demonstrate competency in providing healthcare to individual, sick or well using nursing process.
- - IAssess the nursing need of clients from birth to death.
- - Plan and carry out appropriate action to meet nursing needs
- - Provide effective nursing care to maintain best possible level of health in all aspects
- - Promote self care in people under their care.
- - Apply problem solving techniques in nursing practice.
- - Evaluate effectiveness of nursing care
- - Assist in research activities.
- - Demonstrate basic skills in teaching patients and giving them nursing care.
- - Demonstrate use ethical values in their personal and professional life.
- - Demonstrate basic skills in administration and leadership while working with other members of health team and community.
GNM Course eligibility -
- GNM - 12th Pass with English minimum 40% Marks Or Registered ANM with 40% Marks
